County Spelling Bee Competition Window: 02/01/2026 – 02/25/2026

School Level Spelling Bee Competition Window
School competitions should take place during this time with winner(s) advancing to the county competition. Your Scripps school enrollment login and password provides access to word lists and additional tools for planning your school bee.

County Level Spelling Bee Competition Window
County competitions should take place during this time with the top two finishers advancing to the state competition. The Scripps Regional Qualifier Competition List for use at the county competition will be emailed to the county coordinator(s) in December.

Handouts for county winners advancing to the state competition should be distributed at the conclusion of the county bee. These will be emailed to the county coordinator(s) at the end of January.

The North Dakota State Spelling Bee program consists of three levels of competition – School, County, and State. The program is open to students from public schools, private schools, and homeschools (or school district based homeschool associations).

NDACS Enrollment Form

Public, private, and homeschools all need to enroll both with NDACS for State and Scripps for Nationals in order to have their students eligible to advance from the County Bee level of competition to the State Spelling Bee.

2/28/2026 - Deadline for completing the online State Spelling Bee Student Data Form. One form should be completed per student and can be found at www.northdakotaspellingbee.com.

State Spelling Bee

• Study Materials: The 4,000-word Words of the Champions study guide for school champions that includes the 450-word School Spelling Bee Study List.
