Beginning Friday, March 20^th, Cass County Government offices will be open by appointment only.

For those businesses that regularly conduct business by visiting our office in person, please call 701-241-5620 to make arrangements to conduct your business.  We plan for simple exchanges of documents, etc. to take place in the courthouse lobby.

We encourage all businesses that regularly submit recordings to begin submitting electronic recordings rather than paper documents if you do not already do so.  E-recording is secure, simple, and can be done from your home or office – reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19. With respect to access to recorded documents, most documents on record in our office are available for searching and printing on the North Dakota Recorders Information Network (NDRIN).  Here is a link to learn more about this subscription based service: http://www.ndrin.com/

Cass County has digitized images on NDRIN dating back from Dakota Territory through November 1984.  You can search by document number, book and page, or grantor/grantee.  All of the pre-1984 documents are listed as either Converted Deed, Converted Mortgage, or Converted Miscellaneous.  Images and data from January 1990 through the present are fully indexed.  Documents from November 1, 1984 through December 1989 are a work in progress.  If you are not finding what you need, please call our office for assistance at 701-241-5620.

For those who do not routinely do business with our office, we encourage you to contact us by phone at 701-241-5620 or through our email link at https://www.casscountynd.gov/our-county/recorder/contact-us .  We likely can assist without you having to visit our office.

We offer the following options for obtaining copies of documents ($1/page):

1. Email with Credit Card Payment – Call our office to request that we email a copy of the document and provide credit card payment information. In addition to the per page fee, there will be a $3 email fee as well as a $1 service fee charged by our credit card vendor, GovPay;
2. Mail after Payment by Cash or Check – After calling or emailing our office to find out the document number and number of pages, send payment to our office with a note requesting that we mail to you a copy of the document.  Please include the document number and your mailing address in your request; or,
3. Email after Payment by Cash or Check - After calling or emailing our office to find out the document number and number of pages, send payment to our office along with a note requesting that we email a copy of the document.  In addition to the per page fee, there will be a $3 email fee.  Please include the document number and your email address with your payment.

Although it is our plan to keep our office operating, please be informed that you may experience recording or service delays as the virus continues to spread.  We will keep you informed by posting any updates here in the “NEWS” section on the County Recorder web page.
