Cass County Hires Aasand as Weed Control Officer

Cass County Government recently hired Kyle Aasand as the next Weed Control Officer. This position directs weed control operations and oversees noxious and invasive weed control programs within the county. The Weed Control Officer also coordinates public education to assist landowners, enforces noxious weed control law, and administers landowner reimbursement programs for noxious weed control. He will begin his duties in this role May 13.

“I’m excited to start in this new position,” explains Aasand. “I have worked with the residents of Cass County for the past five years through NDSU Extension programs and I am ready to use my skills and knowledge to continue serving Cass County.”

Mr. Aasand has worked extensively with landowners in the county throughout his career. During his previous time with NDSU Extension, he has worked on many different educational opportunities for farmers, including noxious weed identification and control, private applicator trainings, and pesticide handling and safety. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in crop and weed science.
