To be a qualified voter in North Dakota you need to
meet the following qualifications:
1. Must be a citizen of the United States
2. Must be at least eighteen years old
3. Must be a resident of North Dakota
4. Must have resided in the precinct at least thirty
days preceding any election
If a resident who otherwise meets the qualifications
for voting in North Dakota moves from one precinct to
another within thirty days preceding any election, they
are still qualified electors of the precinct they moved
from.
North Dakota does not have voter registration, however,
when you show up at the polls state law requires that
the poll clerk asks you to provide identification to
verify your eligibility to vote in that precinct. If
you don't have an acceptable form of identification,
you may be challenged and be required to complete a
voter affidavit certifying that you meet the qualifications
to vote in that precinct.
Please visit the North Dakota Secretary of State's
website for more information about voting.
