MISSION: The objectives of the Cass County Vector Control program are to control nuisance mosquitos, reduce the potential of mosquito borne disease transmission, and provide a comfortable and healthy atmosphere for community residents.
The Cass County Vector Control District is the community group in charge of making decisions about issues impacting the county with regards to vectors, which is a general term describing a variety of "problem" animals and weeds. The Vector Control daily activities involves mosquito control, rainfall measures and trap counts as well as community spraying and notifications. The other items that fall within Vector control are noxious weed control, vole and gopher management and other such vermine. The Vector Control District is important to the community/county in the prevention of the spread of disease and plants or animals that might carry such diseases.
In 1988 the Cass County Vector Control District was established to control mosquitoes capable of carrying diseases. The district includes the Cities and rural areas within Cass County. The District operates under the control of a three member board appointed by the County Commission. The Vector Director is responsible for the daily activities of the District.
