SPAM Prevention Tips

Check the privacy policy when you submit your address to a website. See if it allows the company to sell your address.

Read and understand the entire form before you transmit personal information through a website.

Don't respond directly to junk mail solicitations, even if you write on it to delete your name from their database.

Never reply to spam, if they have guessed your email, it confirms it works and opens the door to more spam email.

Never post your County email address anywhere on the Internet. This includes message boards, newsgroups and websites that require registration.

Watch where you buy from online. Some companies will spam you forever once you have purchased something from them. Check their policies.

Never buy anything, even if it is something you really want from a spam email. It just encourages them that spam works. There are legitimate companies out there that do not spam, and you can find what you need from one of them.
