Cass County Government recognizes the need and the desirability of litter-free highways. Under the Adopt-A-Highway Program, the county permits local groups to volunteer their efforts to maintain designated segments of County Highways litter-free. In addition to the aesthetic benefits of cleaner and more beautiful roadsides, participants help to prevent potential pollutants from entering the waterways.
The segments will normally be three miles in length,
but can adjusted by the County Engineer between two
and four miles. The County will provide and erect signs
at each end of the roadway segment, limiting the funding to five segments (10 signs) per year
with no more than 15 segments countywide. Requests will
be treated on a first come, first serve basis with each
segment requiring adoption for a minimum of two years. |
