Cass County Vector Control

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Vector Control is a unit of Cass County Governement charged with making decisions to control organisms capable of transmitting disease.  In 1988 the Cass County Vector Control District was established to control mosquitoes. The district includes the cities and rural areas within Cass County. The District operates under the control of a three member board appointed by the County Commission. The Vector Director is responsible for the daily activities of the District.

The objectives of the Cass County Vector Control program are to control nuisance mosquitoes, reduce the potential of mosquito borne disease transmission, and provide a comfortable and healthy atmosphere for community residents. These goals are accomplish by utilizing Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM is the combination of several appropriate pest control tactics into a single strategy to reduce pests to an acceptable level.  This strategy strives to control mosquitoes while causing minimal disruption to environment and to the public.

Cass County Vector Control's daily activities include adult mosquito trapping, speciation, larval control applications, community education, adult control applications, and public notification. Cass County Vector Control is pleased to serve the community and prevent the spread of vector borne disease while improving the quality of life for the citizens of Cass County.
