Serving as an Election Worker 
Election Inspectors are the polling location managers.  They are appointed by the City Auditor(s) of the city or cities located within that particular precinct.  If you are interested in serving as an Election Inspector, please contact your local city auditor.
 
Election Judges are responsible for handing out the election ballots.  These positions are the political positions on the election board.  The Election Judges are appointed by the District Party Chairpersons of the Democratic and Republican Parties.  If you interested in serving as an Election Judge, please contact the District Party Chairperson for the Legislative District in which you live.
 
Election Clerks are hired by the Cass County Auditor's office.  Please keep in mind that all precincts will be using electronic poll books in 2010, similar to a laptop computer.  While the use of the electronic poll books is very simple, basic computer skills are necessary. 

 Election Clerk Qualifications:

  1. Must be a U.S. Citizen;
  2. Must be an eligible voter in Cass County, ND;
  3. Must be at least 16 years of age;
  4. Must have basic computer skills;
    • Ability to use a mouse
    • Ability to type using a keyboard
  5. Must be able to proofread material (printed or on screen) for accuracy.

 Election Clerk Duties:

  1. Assist in the set up and tear down of the polling location;
  2. Verify voter’s identification and check-in voters;
  3. Update incorrect information in the poll book;
  4. Other duties as assigned by the inspector.

You will need to attend a short training class to learn how to be a poll worker.  Once assigned to a polling location, you will receive a notice from the Cass County Auditor’s Office notifying you of when you are scheduled to attend training.
