Commissioner Robyn Sorum was elected to the board of commissioners in 2000.  Her portfolio includes the State's Attorney Office, Extension Services and Veteran's Services.  Current committee assignments include Social Services Board, Personnel Overview Committee, Road Advisory Committee, County Park Board and Lake Agassiz Regional Council.

Sorum was born in 1961 and raised in Horace, North Dakota. She graduated from West Fargo High School and received a business degree from Interstate Business College. She resides in Horace, North Dakota, with her husband, Bruce, and has two children, Christina and Jacob.

Sorum previously worked at Harvest States Elevator in Horace and Dakota Heartland Hospital in Fargo, and most recently was part-owner of a gift shop in Horace. She served as EMT-B on the Horace Rescue Squad, serving as vice president of that organization for two years and president for three years. She is active in the Heart of Horace Lions Club and served as its president.  Sorum was also a past board member of the Cass County Ambulance Association and past member of the Horace Jaycees.

Goals as a county commissioner include promoting rural and county economic development and working with the Cass County taxpayers on public awareness and input on county issues.
